Netflix’s psychological thriller You returns with its fifth and final season, concluding Joe Goldberg’s dark and twisted saga. Penn Badgley’s Joe returns to New York City after three years, escaping London with Kate Lockwood, played by Charlotte Ritchie. Now married to Kate—who serves as CEO of the Lockwood Corporation—Joe has transformed into a respected public figure. This season brings Joe full circle. According to co-showrunner Michael Foley, returning Joe to New York was always the plan. “We always said we would stop after five and, in a perfect world, we’d bring Joe back home,” Foley explained. The city where it all began is now the setting for his potential downfall—or redemption.
Season five introduces a fresh cast, including Madeline Brewer as Bronte, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, Anna Camp, Natasha Behnam, Pete Ploszek, Tom Francis, and Nava Mau. Moreover, these new characters add complexity to Joe’s life, threatening the carefully crafted identity he’s worked hard to maintain.
Over the years, viewers have watched Joe’s chilling evolution unfold—from his obsession with Guinevere Beck in New York, to his toxic love affair with Love Quinn in Los Angeles, and finally, his eerie reinvention in London. Each season peeled back more layers of his psyche, leading to season four’s psychological breakdown, where Joe wrestled with hallucinations and inner demons.
You Season 5 premieres globally on Netflix on April 24 at 3 a.m. ET. Consequently, all 10 episodes will be available to stream at once, allowing viewers to binge the final chapter of Joe Goldberg’s haunting journey together. As secrets resurface and Joe’s double life unravels, the final season promises to deliver a gripping and unsettling farewell.
