Why Iqra Aziz & Yasir Hussain Prioritize Speaking Urdu at Home

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain are two well-known figures in the entertainment industry, excelling in their respective fields. Yasir is a talented host, comedian, and director, while Iqra has gained recognition as a remarkable actor and model. The couple tied the knot on December 28, 2019, and are proud parents to their adorable son, Kabir Hussain. Despite being in the public eye, they rarely share pictures of their little one, choosing to keep his life relatively private.

Iqra & Yasir’s Views on Language and Parenting

Recently, the couple appeared in Green Entertainment’s special Ramadan transmission, hosted by Rabia Anam and Danish Taimoor. During the discussion, they opened up about their parenting approach, particularly their decision to prioritize Urdu as Kabir’s first language.

Iqra shared that they consciously make an effort to communicate in Urdu at home. Yasir further elaborated on their stance, recalling an incident that reinforced their belief. He shared, “One day, someone from the set came up to me and said, ‘Oh, Kabir is speaking Urdu! Usually, celebrities’ kids speak only English. You should teach him English because he will eventually learn Urdu—it’s easier to pick up later.’ But I see things differently. I believe having a strong grasp of Urdu is essential. I learned English later in life, so I know that one can learn any language at any age, but Urdu should come first.”

The Importance of Preserving Urdu

Iqra and Yasir’s perspective highlights the significance of cultural preservation and the importance of ensuring that children stay connected to their roots. While they acknowledge the importance of learning multiple languages, they firmly believe that fluency in Urdu should be a priority, especially in a society where English is often given more preference.

Their stance has sparked discussions among fans, with many appreciating their efforts to uphold their cultural and linguistic heritage. As more parents navigate bilingual parenting, Iqra and Yasir’s approach serves as an inspiration for those who wish to keep their native language alive in future generations.
