Pervez Kalim, a renowned Pakistani film director and screenwriter, recently shared candid insights into the personalities and behaviors of two of Pakistan’s television industry stalwarts,
Danish Taimoor and Faysal Quraishi. In an exclusive interview with Metro Live TV, Kalim opened up about his experiences working with these actors, shedding light on aspects of their professional and personal lives that are not widely known.
Pervez Kalim’s Cinematic Journey
Pervez Kalim’s illustrious career in the Pakistani film industry began as an assistant director at Shahnoor Studios, a venture owned by Madam Noor Jehan and her husband, Shaukat Rizvi.
Over the years, Kalim has made a significant mark as a writer, contributing to hit films such as “Mujhe Chaand Chahye,” “Zille Shah,” “Bazaar E Husn,” “Salakhain,” “Aasman,” and “Qaid.”
His talent extended to stage dramas as well, with his play “Janam Janam Ki Maili Chadar” enjoying a remarkable seven-year run in theaters.
Additionally, he penned numerous dramas for acclaimed actor and producer Humayun Saeed, including “Baaghi” and “Dooriyan.”
Danish Taimoor’s Behavior Critiqued
During the interview, Kalim did not hold back his criticisms of Danish Taimoor’s demeanor. He described an incident that left a lasting impression on him, stating,
“Danish Taimoor was unlucky that he didn’t want to work with Iqbal Kashmiri. He thinks that he is Rock Hudson of Pakistan.
He was sitting at his house on a hanging swing and his legs were towards me. For God’s sake, I am an older man, at least show some respect.
He needs to learn mannerisms. He is impolite.
He is a great actor, but he needs to change his behavior with elders.” Kalim’s comments highlight a side of Taimoor that contrasts sharply with his on-screen persona, raising questions about the actor’s professional decorum.
Faysal Quraishi’s Complex Relationship with His Mother
Kalim also spoke about Faysal Quraishi, revealing that he had given Quraishi his first break in the industry at the behest of his mother, Afshan Quraishi.
The conversation took a turn when the anchor mentioned rumors about Quraishi moving his mother out of his house. Responding to this, Kalim remarked,
“After you added this information to the conversation, I don’t feel any regret that he didn’t recognize my efforts.
If he wasn’t loyal to his mother, how would he be loyal to me?” This revelation paints a complex picture of Quraishi, juxtaposing his professional achievements with his personal decisions and relationships.
