In a promotional video for Excuse Me with Ahmad Ali Butt, now widely shared online, actor and producer Saud Qasmi on Lollywood’s downfall coz of Shaan and Syed Noor openly discussed the challenges facing the Pakistani film industry. He expressed his thoughts candidly, highlighting individuals he believes have contributed to its struggles.

“Shaan and Syed Noor have impacted Lollywood negatively,” Saud remarked, adding, “There are a few others, but these are the primary figures. If they had taken different steps, the industry could have progressed significantly. We all share responsibility for its struggles.” Pausing briefly, he continued with a laugh, “Shaan’s issue is that he… Let’s just say instead of pointing out flaws in others, it’s important to focus on your own.”

Saud’s remarks quickly sparked vibrant conversations online, with social media users rushing to share their perspectives. Many expressed strong support for Shaan, a celebrated icon of Pakistani cinema.

“Shaan is the one and only superstar in Pakistan,” one Instagram user commented, reflecting widespread admiration for the actor.

Others, however, used the opportunity to question Saud’s own contributions to cinema. “Look who’s talking. Saud appeared in many poorly received films,” another user responded critically.

Among the divided opinions, some agreed with Saud’s assessment, with one commenter noting simply, “He’s not wrong.”

This isn’t the first time Saud has shared his views on the entertainment industry’s dynamics. Earlier, during an appearance on Sahiba’s talk show in February 2024, he reflected on his unconventional approach to drama production. Unlike many producers, Saud explained that he intentionally avoided casting himself in leading roles. Saud Qasmi on Lollywood’s downfall coz of Shaan and Syed Noor also came up in the discussion, where he emphasized his perspective on the challenges the industry faces.

“When I started producing dramas, I handed my own characters to others,” he explained. “I could have taken those roles, but I thought, ‘No, someone else should be given a chance to shine.’ I’ve provided opportunities to many individuals and refrained from casting myself as a hero in my productions. This is something few others have done.”

Despite his efforts to elevate others, Saud shared his disappointment at the lack of acknowledgment he has received. “It feels disheartening. Those I supported haven’t acknowledged my contributions. They don’t even mention me by name,” he shared. “So many individuals have advanced their careers through my dramas, but I wonder if they feel hesitant or reluctant to recognize it.”

Saud’s candid insights have once again sparked meaningful discussions about accountability, gratitude, and collective responsibility within Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
