Actress and activist Sarwat Gilani, known for speaking out on social issues, appeared on Nukta Pakistan to address industry criticism. Sarwat, after seven years of focusing on films and web series, is ready to return to television with a drama on ARY Digital. During the interview, she openly called out host and actress Nadia Khan for making harsh, unnecessary remarks about fellow Pakistani celebrities.

Recently, Nadia Khan grabbed attention for calling out Fawad, Hania, Atif, and Rahat for staying silent on India-Pakistan tensions. Her tone, many felt, came off as aggressive and disrespectful. Sarwat Gilani firmly responded, saying that publicly shaming fellow industry members is not a patriotic or respectful way to express concern.

She calling out Nadia’s delivery, saying it resembled someone yelling at subordinates rather than offering constructive dialogue. Sarwat stated that it’s inappropriate to scream on television at others as if they are your staff. She added that criticizing others from the comfort of an air-conditioned studio is easy—but real activism requires more. Sarwat questioned whether she had joined others on the streets to protest, like many of them actively did.

Furthermore, Sarwat acknowledged that celebrities should support Pakistan and speak out when needed, but she emphasized the importance of doing so with dignity and respect. “Yes, you can ask them to post for the country—but not like a mohalla woman looking for a fight,” she said bluntly.

Her remarks went viral online, igniting debate over free speech, tone policing, and public figures’ roles during national political tensions. As always, Sarwat Gilani spoke with clarity and conviction, reminding others that criticism without respect quickly loses its power and meaning.
