Today marks the 24th death anniversary of the legendary singer, Malka-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan, a name synonymous with timeless music and unmatched talent. Born on September 21, 1926, in Kasur, Punjab, Noor Jehan came from a family of musicians, and her journey to greatness began at a young age. Over her illustrious career, Noor Jehan recorded nearly 10,000 songs in multiple languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, and Sindhi. Her voice not only entertained millions but also inspired them during challenging times. During the 1965 war, her patriotic songs lifted the spirits of both the Pakistan Army and the nation, making her a symbol of resilience and pride. Remembering Noor Jehan, we celebrate her unmatched contributions to music and cinema.

Noor Jehan was also an accomplished actress, starring in classic films like Chan Way, Dopatta, Mirza Ghalib, Qaidi, Baaji, and Khandaan. Her acting skills won her numerous accolades, including the President’s Award in 1957. Throughout her life, she received several honors, such as the Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from PTV and Nigar.

Her legacy lives on as an icon of music and culture in Pakistan. Noor Jehan passed away on December 23, 2000, due to heart failure and was laid to rest in Karachi.
