Nadia Khan Sparks Backlash Over Talha Anjum Incident

Nadia Khan, a prominent Pakistani television host and actor, recently made headlines for confronting rapper Talha Anjum on her morning show Rise and Shine. The controversy erupted after Talha waved the Indian flag during a concert in Nepal. Nadia invited him to her show to hold him accountable, emphasizing that such acts hurt the sentiments of the majority of Pakistanis. Talha admitted his mistake and apologized. While many social media users praised Nadia for taking a stand, others defended Talha, leading to a heated debate online.

Celebrity Support for Talha Anjum

Adding fuel to the controversy, well-known Pakistani celebrities Yasir Hussain, Sonya Hussyn, and Musadek Malek publicly voiced their support for Talha.

Yasir Hussain compared Nadia Khan to Indian journalist Arnab Goswami and praised Talha as a patriotic Pakistani artist who has earned international acclaim. Musadek Malek, in a humorous yet critical post, called Talha a legend while referring to Nadia as “Pissu.”

Sonya Hussyn echoed similar sentiments, stating that no artist deserves to be publicly shamed on national television. Kinza Hashmi also expressed her viewpoint, joining the chorus of voices siding with Talha.

Nadia Khan Stands Firm

Despite the backlash, Nadia Khan firmly criticized Talha’s actions during the Pahalgam incident and his sympathetic remarks toward India amid the ongoing conflict. She questioned, “Have you forgotten the times when they imposed war on us and killed our soldiers? Why did you raise their flag? We are Pakistani before we are artists.” Talha defended himself, insisting that he acted bravely as a Pakistani artist, claiming that Indians could never perform a similar act without facing threats from politicians.

Social Media Divided

The debate has divided audiences on social media. Many support Nadia, arguing that Pakistani artists should prioritize national pride over defending pro-Indian gestures. Others believe Nadia’s style may be harsh but acknowledge that her message about self-respect is valid. The controversy highlights the delicate balance artists face between international fame and maintaining loyalty to their country, sparking a broader discussion about patriotism, artistic freedom, and public accountability.
