Moammar Rana, a celebrated name in Pakistan’s film and television industry, recently sat down for an insightful interview with Juggun Kazim on PTV, where he opened up about his career, personal life, and the unique bond he shares with his beloved daughters.
At 43, Rana has seen the highs and lows of a demanding career, but it’s his relationship with his daughters, Rea, 24, and Raneya, 18, that he cherishes the most.
In the interview, Rana was candid about how his wife, Mehnaz, played a pivotal role in maintaining their family dynamics, especially given his often absent presence due to his hectic work schedule.
“My relationship with my daughters is all down to Mehnaz,” he admitted, giving full credit to his wife for instilling discipline and ensuring that their daughters understood and respected the sacrifices he made for the family.
Mehnaz, a self-described “strict mother,” revealed that Rana’s grueling schedule meant he was frequently away from home, missing out on many of the small moments that define parenthood.
Yet, she always made it a point to speak warmly of him, reinforcing the idea that their father was working tirelessly to provide for them.
“I always reminded the girls that whilst we can have the AC on in the heat, their father is out there working in 48-degree heat,” Mehnaz recalled.
“Similarly, I reminded them that whilst we can curl up under a blanket in the cold, he is still out working whatever the weather, in sickness and in health, even if he has a fever.”
These lessons of love and respect were not lost on Rea and Raneya. Despite the physical distance that often separated them from their father, they grew up with a profound understanding of his dedication and hard work.
For Rana, being the absent father was not easy, and he sometimes lamented Mehnaz’s strict approach, but he always ensured that his family was well taken care of during his long periods away from home. “I always made sure they had a car for wherever they needed to go, and if one wasn’t available,
I would buy them one,” Rana said, highlighting his commitment to his family’s comfort and well-being, even when he couldn’t be physically present.
Over the years, this understanding and mutual respect have blossomed into a rock-solid bond between Rana and his daughters.
Today, as they step into adulthood, Rana takes immense pride in the strong, independent women they have become.
The lessons imparted by their mother, coupled with the sacrifices made by their father, have shaped Rea and Raneya into individuals who deeply value family, hard work, and the importance of mutual respect.
Rana’s reflection on his relationship with his daughters is a testament to the idea that while a father’s presence is irreplaceable, understanding, communication, and respect can bridge the gaps created by physical absence.
It also sheds light on the often-overlooked role of mothers in maintaining family cohesion, especially in households where one parent is frequently away due to work commitments.
