Renowned writer and director Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar recently made waves with his appearance on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast, where he candidly discussed his reasons for not working with acclaimed actress Saba Qamar in the future.
The two have previously collaborated on the hit drama serial “Bunty I Love You,” which aired on Hum TV, showcasing their combined talents.
During the podcast, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar openly admired Saba Qamar’s acting skills. “I think Saba Qamar is a wonderful actress. I like her work and she delivered a stellar performance in ‘Bunty I Love You,’” he said.
Despite this praise, Khalil clarified that he would not cast her in any of his future projects due to her choice of clothing, which he feels contradicts cultural norms and values.
He explained, “I will never cast Saba Qamar again in any of my dramas. The kind of clothes she wears don’t go well with me. Although her acting is exceptional, such kind of dressing is against our norms and culture.”
He acknowledged that clothing is a personal choice and that it might not be his place to criticize it, yet he emphasized his right to choose the actors he works with based on his personal and cultural values.
Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s remarks have sparked a significant conversation among fans and the media, with many weighing in on the intersection of personal freedom, cultural values, and professional choices.
The video clip from the podcast, where he elaborates on his stance, has gone viral, further fueling the debate.
This revelation from Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar highlights the ongoing discussion about the balance between personal expression and cultural expectations in the Pakistani entertainment industry.
While Saba Qamar continues to be celebrated for her versatility and talent, this incident underscores the challenges artists face in navigating personal and professional boundaries in a culturally rich and diverse society.
