Javed Sheikh, a veteran Pakistani actor, director, and producer, has been a prominent figure in both Pakistani and Indian entertainment industries for decades. He gained recognition for iconic roles in dramas like Ankahi and Zindagi Gulzar Hai.
In cinema, he impressed audiences with Na Maloom Afraad, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, and Wrong Number. His Bollywood appearances in Om Shanti Om, Namastey London, Tamasha, and Jannat further showcased his versatility.
Recently, Sheikh appeared on the Ramadan transmission Baran-e-Rehmat, hosted by actor Omer Shahzad and Arsala Siddiqui. During the show, the host asked him about a character or film close to his heart.
While discussing his notable roles, Sheikh mentioned Jannat, a 2008 Indian crime-sport-drama film. In Jannat, Emraan Hashmi played the protagonist, while Sheikh portrayed the villain, Abu Ibrahim.
Reflecting on his experience, Sheikh shared an intriguing story about his first interaction with Hashmi on set. He recalled meeting Hashmi in Cape Town before filming began. He was sitting on set when the director introduced him to Hashmi.
He greeted him with ‘Assalamu Alaikum,’ but Hashmi ignored him and walked away. Sheikh decided not to speak to him after that. Shortly after, the director approached him for a rehearsal with Hashmi. Sheikh refused to go, saying that Hashmi would have to come to him instead.
Eventually, the director made Hashmi approach him, and they rehearsed together. Sheikh emphasized that respect is mutual—if you give it, you get it.
Despite the initial cold interaction, Sheikh shared that after two weeks of silence, Hashmi finally approached him and started a conversation, marking a shift in their relationship.
