Is Ali Zafar considering performing the anthem for PSL Season 9?

Fans are excitedly awaiting the thrilling anthem for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 as the country gets ready to host one of the most anticipated cricketing tournaments, which is just a month away.

The first person who springs to mind when discussing PSL songs is the phenomenal Pakistani vocalist Ali Zafar, who sang anthems for each of the competition’s first three seasons.

Ali Zafar produced and sung Ab Khel Ke Dikha in 2016. The next year, the anthem Ab Khel Jamay Ga surpassed records of cricket anthems, becoming the most popular song following its release in 2018. The third season’s anthem, Dil Se Jaan Laga De by Zafar, was released the following year.

Together, Fawad Khan and Young Desi sang the Shuja Haider-penned hymn Khel Deewano Ka in 2019, which also achieved some notoriety. In 2020, Tayyar Hain showcased the abilities of Ali Azmat, Haroon, Asim Azhar, and Arif Lohar.

Aima Baig, Naseebo Lal, and Young Stunners came together for the 2021 anthem Groove Mera, which perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the competition.

This time, Zafar asked fans to cast their votes and publicly questioned the possible consequences of his role in writing this year’s PSL anthem in a post on X (previously Twitter).

He asked the public for their honest thoughts, wondering if this kind of contribution may improve the PSL and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) reputation, improve the relationship with the viewership, and enhance profits for all parties involved.

The winners of the 2023 anthem, Sab Sitaray Humaray, are Faris Shafi, Shae Gill, and Asim Azhar.

Fans, however, consistently made comparisons between Ab Khel Jamay Ga and every song.

Zafar demonstrated a lack of ego and underlined his sincere desire to comprehend the beliefs and inclinations of the Pakistani populace, setting them apart from the viewpoints of a small number of people in positions of power or influence.

He emphasised in a different message that he would explain this one later and that people should only vote.

Zafar’s musical journey began with his debut album “Huqa Pani” in 2003, which gained him widespread acclaim. He continued to make a mark in the music industry with subsequent albums like “Masty” and “Jhoom.” His melodious voice and knack for composing catchy tunes have made him a popular figure in the Pakistani music scene.

Apart from his successful music career, Ali Zafar has ventured into acting. He made his acting debut in the Pakistani film industry with “Tere Bin Laden” in 2010, a comedy that earned him accolades for his performance. He went on to act in several other Pakistani and Bollywood films, showcasing his versatility on the big screen.

Ali Zafar’s association with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is notable, as he has created anthems for the tournament’s initial seasons. His anthems, such as “Ab Khel Ke Dikha” and “Ab Khel Jamay Ga,” became immensely popular, capturing the spirit of cricket and garnering widespread appreciation.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Ali Zafar has been involved in various philanthropic activities, contributing to social causes and humanitarian efforts.

His charismatic persona, combined with his artistic talents, has established him as one of the prominent and admired figures in the Pakistani entertainment industry.
