The upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, starring Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, has sparked major controversy ahead of its international release. Two major Indian film bodies—the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA)—have strongly objected to Hania’s casting, citing national security concerns.

Both organizations have announced a full boycott of Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s producers. They also vowed to prevent Sardaar Ji 3 from releasing in Indian cinemas. While the film is currently scheduled for an overseas-only release on June 27, 2025, its producers are now facing mounting backlash within India.

Producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu responded to the uproar by clarifying that the film had already wrapped production before the recent Indo-Pak tensions escalated. However, this statement did little to calm the outrage. AICWA accused Diljit of “working with terrorists,” while FWICE labeled the casting as “anti-national” and an act of “treason.” They claim the collaboration promotes an anti-India narrative at a sensitive time.

Press Release

The controversy further intensified after AICWA alleged Hania Aamir’s indirect involvement in the recent Pahalgam attack, calling it “Pakistan-sponsored.” Pakistan has categorically denied these claims and demanded evidence, which the Indian government has yet to provide.

According to AICWA, Diljit’s decision to work with a Pakistani actress dishonors the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and deeply hurts national sentiments. They called upon the Indian film industry to sever all professional ties with him, questioning his patriotism and the implications for India’s global cinematic image.

Despite the growing backlash, Sardaar Ji 3 continues to generate buzz internationally. However, its fate in India remains uncertain as the political and industry-led tensions escalate.

Stay tuned as the story unfolds and the film nears its global release.
