Exciting news for Potterheads! HBO has finally revealed the young stars stepping into the iconic roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron in its much-anticipated Harry Potter television adaptation.
According to the BBC, Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will portray the legendary trio. These fresh faces follow in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint—who famously brought the characters to life in the original film series. While relatively new to the screen, the trio has already made waves. McLaughlin is set to appear in Sky’s upcoming comedy Grow and the BBC adventure series Gifted. Stanton, meanwhile, has already charmed audiences as Matilda in Matilda: The Musical on the West End.
Notably, HBO held an open casting call last year, with over 30,000 children auditioning for these coveted roles. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod expressed confidence in their selection, saying, “The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”
Moreover, the supporting cast boasts big names, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Filch. Additional casting updates are expected in the coming months.

Interestingly, J.K. Rowling herself will serve as an executive producer. HBO promises a “faithful adaptation” of the beloved books, aiming to explore plotlines with more depth than the films allowed.
The series, which will reportedly span a decade, begins filming this summer at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. If all goes as planned, fans can expect the magical adventure to kick off on HBO Max by 2026.
The Wizarding World is officially coming back to life—this time, on the small screen.
