As more celebrities demand fees for their appearances, content creators must navigate this evolving landscape carefully. The debate over paid interviews continues, raising questions about fairness, industry norms, and the financial sustainability of independent content creators.
In the past, actors appeared on TV shows and podcasts without charging a fee. However, in recent years, many showbiz stars have started demanding payment for appearances on YouTube channels and mainstream media. These platforms require preparation and generate significant revenue for creators, making paid appearances a standard industry practice.
Recently, Pakistani podcaster Adnan Faisal sparked debate by revealing that actress Hania Aamir requested Rs. 20 lakh to appear on his podcast. During an interview on a private news channel, Faisal shared insights into his podcast experiences and how he handles celebrity guests.
Faisal clarified that he has never paid any celebrity or guest to appear on his show. His podcasts feature personalities from entertainment, politics, and social spheres, all of whom participate without compensation. While he acknowledged Hania Aamir as one of Pakistan’s top stars, he did not consider her demand unreasonable. However, he chose not to accept it, as he wanted to maintain a precedent of unpaid guest appearances.

He emphasized that all artists should be treated equally. Paying one star while others join for free would create an imbalance, potentially leading to further payment demands. Faisal’s stance reflects a broader concern in the industry, where content creators must balance ethical considerations with financial constraints.
Beyond this controversy, Faisal also addressed criticism regarding actress Saima Qureshi’s statement on women’s earnings. He explained that her views were personal and should not be generalized. He highlighted her dual role as an actress and a businesswoman managing her clothing brand, underscoring the diversity of opinions within the entertainment industry.
