Pakistani-origin chef Maryam Ishtiaq, based in Dallas, earned high praise from world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay for her expertly crafted tandoori chicken on the fourth season of Next Level Chef.
Ishtiaq shared a video on her Instagram, capturing her interaction with Ramsay, which quickly went viral. In the clip, she confidently tells Ramsay that she is preparing tandoori chicken and proudly emphasizes her Pakistani heritage. Ramsay, visibly impressed while tasting the dish, responds enthusiastically, saying, “Pakistan, beautiful. And some of the best food in Pakistan.”
As the video continues, another judge praises Ishtiaq’s homemade yogurt, highlighting its exceptional freshness. Meanwhile, Ramsay showers the tandoori chicken with compliments. “The chicken is delicious. That Pakistani foundation you grew up with is evident here, and it’s strong. Well done,” he remarks, acknowledging the deep cultural influence behind her dish.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Ishtiaq thanks Ramsay and expresses her deep pride in representing Pakistan. “I’ve always wanted to represent Pakistan,” she says, wiping away tears.
