Hina Bayat Claims Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate Was Inspired by Her Talk Show
In a recent interview on After Hours with Ushna Shah, actress and host Hina Bayat shared surprising claims about her popular talk show Hina Ke Sath. She stated that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan famous show Satyamev Jayate resembled her program in both format and theme, suggesting it might have drawn inspiration from her work.
Hina Ke Sath: Breaking Taboos in Pakistani Media
Bayat, known for addressing sensitive topics, launched Hina Ke Sath to discuss issues like mental health and social problems that were often considered taboo. She aimed to create a platform where real people could share their struggles to help others facing similar challenges.
“When I started Hina Ke Sath, psychological health was rarely discussed in public,” she explained. “My mission was to break the silence and show people they are not alone.” Her show quickly gained popularity for its unique approach to societal issues.
The Similarities Between Hina Ke Sath and Satyamev Jayate
Bayat felt surprised when Aamir Khan launched Satyamev Jayate in India in 2012. The show focused on education, health, and child abuse—topics similar to those discussed on Hina Ke Sath.
“When we watched it, my team immediately said, ‘This looks like our set and content,’” Bayat recalled. She clarified that she did not accuse Khan of copying but pointed out the similarities were too strong to ignore.
During the interview, Ushna Shah praised Bayat for her efforts in breaking social taboos. Shah also noted how Khan’s show followed a similar path and asked Bayat about the key similarities. Bayat responded, “The format, the set, and even the way issues were discussed felt very familiar.”
Raising Questions About Originality in Television
Bayat’s team members also noticed the striking parallels between the two shows. While Bayat stopped short of making direct accusations, she emphasized that the similarities could not be coincidental.
Despite raising these concerns, Bayat expressed pride in her work and gratitude for the platform she had. “I’m proud of what we achieved. Addressing important issues in a public forum is something I will always cherish,” she said.
Her comments have sparked a debate about originality and inspiration in television. The conversation raises questions about how ideas cross borders in the media industry and the fine line between inspiration and imitation.
