Veteran Pakistani actress Atiqa Odho, known for her powerful roles in dramas like Humsafar, Nijat, Sitara Aur Mehrunnisa, and Pyar Ke Sadqay, is currently starring in Express TV’s Paradise. She also co-hosts Kya Drama Hai on 24 News HD, where she often shares her thoughts on current issues.

Recently, Atiqa Odho commented on the role of artists during times of war and conflict. In her statement, she urged people not to drag entertainers into political tensions. She stated, “Unfortunately, our soft image ambassadors—like poets, actors, musicians, singers, writers—are dragged into this. Please don’t do that. They are here to spread love and culture. We don’t say these things to doctors or lawyers, so why do we curse actors? My appeal to artists on both sides is: spread love, not hate.”
However, her remarks sparked immediate backlash on social media. Many accused her of lacking patriotism, especially during a time when Pakistani civilians were reportedly targeted in unprovoked Indian attacks. One angry user commented, “These actors forget how much hate Indian celebrities showed towards Pakistan during wartime.” Another added, “Pakistan suffered Shahadats, yet Indian actors united in criticism. Why are we staying silent?”
Furthermore, critics questioned the idea of promoting peace with those accused of violating Pakistan’s sovereignty. One netizen said, “Share love with whom? Those who disrespect our nation and kill our children? No, thanks!”

In addition, stars like Fawad Khan, Hania Aamir, Ayeza Khan, Wahaj Ali, Yumna Zaidi, and Ahad Raza Mir also maintained silence during the conflict, likely due to their Indian fanbase. Yet, their neutrality hasn’t spared them from harsh public criticism.

Clearly, the public expects celebrities to stand with the nation—especially during moments of national crisis.
