The Gaza Strip has endured a month-long bombardment by Israeli forces, resulting in over 13,000 casualties and extensive devastation.
This has sparked global condemnation, prompting thousands of artists to unite and sign a letter demanding a ceasefire in the conflict-ridden area.
Attacks that never stopped in Gaza were nothing short of a horrific tragedy and another example of innocent people suffering as a result of fierce fighting.
Artists urged Israel and Hamas to uphold the ceasefire as both parties are currently adhering to it in order to avoid more casualties. Arooj Aftab of Pakistan was one of the musicians who supported this admirable cause.
Tom Morello, Bikini Kill, Kid Cudi, Kali Uchis, Zack de la Rocha, Lucy Dacus, Vijay Iyer, Nicolás Jaar, Helado Negro, Raffi, and Mandy are a few more well-known musicians.
The musicians wrote a letter expressing their support for the oppressed Palestinians fighting for equality, justice, and freedom.
The organization restated appeals for the freedom of grassroots activists and artists around the world to support and participate in nonviolent ways to bring about accountability, combat injustice, and pursue freedom, a just peace, and dignity.
They also called for an end to Israel’s siege of Gaza. According to the statement, our top priority must be realising our vision of a fair and peaceful future for everyone.
We invite everyone who believes in that vision to come along.
