Neelofar Brings Fawad and Mahira Together Again

KARACHI: Ammar Rasool writes and directs the upcoming Pakistani romantic film Neelofar, reuniting Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Madiha Imam in lead roles. The movie, co-produced by Fawad Khan, marks the third on-screen collaboration between Fawad and Mahira following their acclaimed performances in Humsafar and The Legend of Maula Jatt.

Cast Shares Excitement at Media Junket

The ensemble cast, including Behroze Sabzwari, Sarwat Gilani, Madiha Imam, Atiqa Odho, Mahira Khan, and Fawad Khan, attended the media junket for the film. The cast expressed confidence that Neelofar would resonate with audiences. Mahira shared, “Sometimes in life, projects come your way that you are willing to be a small part of.” Fawad added, “I learned a lot from this film. I made mistakes, but I hope audiences enjoy it when they watch.”

Veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari expressed excitement about the project, noting, “I am genuinely happy to be part of this film. Its international release is great because films that release only in Pakistan reach limited audiences.” Meanwhile, Madiha Imam and Atiqa Odho highlighted the emotional depth of the story, saying that they made the film out of love for Fawad and Mahira.

A Heartfelt Romantic Story Set in Lahore

Reflecting on the reunion with Fawad, Mahira commented, “We were a little different as actors after so long apart, but it was a lot of fun working together. My scenes mostly include Fawad, Behroze Sabzwari, and Navid Shahzad, and there’s always love and respect on set.” She added a personal touch: “People will get a little break in this busy world—like visiting their grandmother’s house for tea and paratha.”

Fawad described the film as a heartfelt romantic story centered on two characters. The plot follows Mansoor Ali Khan, a world-renowned Urdu novelist, who returns to Lahore for a literary festival and meets Neelofar, a blind young woman who experiences life through sound, scent, and silence. Their connection transforms Mansoor’s understanding of art and love, exploring analogue intimacy, vulnerability, and unseen bonds in a fast-paced modern world. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Lahore, Neelofar promises a meditative cinematic experience.
