A new fan theory claims that Ironheart may have secretly paved the way for Marvel’s next big villain. According to growing speculation, Mephisto’s rumored appearance in the upcoming Disney+ series isn’t just a one-off cameo. Instead, it could lay the foundation for a much larger storyline.

Specifically, fans believe this move might set Mephisto up as the main antagonist in Marvel’s next team-based project, possibly the Young Avengers or Champions. If true, this development would give the character a long-awaited entry into the MCU and a central role in shaping its future.

Moreover, this theory has gained traction due to hints in previous Marvel phases, which subtly teased Mephisto’s influence. Now, with Ironheart possibly leading into this larger arc, the pieces seem to be falling into place.

Theory Suggests Ironheart Secretly Sets Up Mephisto as the Villain in Young Avengers Series

In Ironheart Episode 6, Sacha Baron Cohen officially enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mephisto, a highly anticipated villain. Fans initially speculated that his character was Dormammu, but the episode clears the confusion when Mephisto reveals his true identity. In a pivotal moment, he offers Riri Williams a deal to resurrect her late friend, Natalie—mirroring a previous deal he made with Parker Robbins, who received a magical hood in exchange for something he “won’t miss.” Riri accepts the offer, officially becoming one of Mephisto’s latest clients.

Furthermore, the episode hints that Riri is not alone. Mephisto has apparently struck similar deals with others, including figures on the Forbes 100 list and even Ringo Starr. This broader implication has sparked intense speculation among fans. Many now believe Ironheart isn’t just Mephisto’s debut—it’s the beginning of a larger arc that positions him as a central villain in the MCU.

Adding to this theory, one X (formerly Twitter) user posted, “What if Mephisto is the villain in the rumored Champions series? Maybe he tries to manipulate Billy and Tommy.” Another fan suggested Mephisto might use Riri to bring Tommy and Billy to him to reclaim their souls.

Additionally, the finale aligns with comic book arcs, including one where Mephisto’s son, Blackheart, possesses Riri. This plotline may soon be adapted for the MCU. Meanwhile, Billy Maximoff (Wiccan) continues to search for his brother Tommy, a journey likely to carry over into Vision Quest.

Showrunner Chinaka Hodge told TVLine, “Audiences will help decide what happens next… So, tune in and show Disney and the MCU that Ironheart has a strong fan base.”

Now streaming on Disney+, Ironheart may just be Marvel’s first step toward a supernatural showdown—led by Mephisto.
