Start your engines—Vin Diesel has officially revved up excitement for the next and final chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise. Appearing alongside co-stars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker at Fuel Fest, a popular car enthusiast event in Pomona, California, Diesel took the stage on Saturday night to address fans about what’s ahead for Fast & Furious 11.
Diesel announced a tentative April 2027 release date during his surprise appearance. More importantly, he teased three major conditions he set with the studio before moving forward. “The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast & Furious in April 2027?’” he shared. “I said, ‘Under three conditions—bring the franchise back to L.A., return to real car culture and street racing, and reunite Dom with Brian O’Conner.’”
While Diesel’s third condition sparked cheers from the crowd, it also raised questions. Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner, tragically passed away in a car accident in 2013. Any return would likely require the use of CGI, archived footage, or the involvement of Paul’s brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker, as seen in Furious 7.

Meanwhile, fans are still digesting the events of Fast X, which hit theaters in May 2023 and grossed over $700 million globally. The film starred Diesel, Jason Momoa, Alan Ritchson, Michelle Rodriguez, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno, and was initially marketed as part one of a two-part finale. However, it remains uncertain whether Fast 11 will directly pick up where Fast X left off, especially after a significant production gap.
Regardless of the specifics, Diesel’s announcement has reignited fan anticipation. With promises of nostalgia, street racing, and a possible digital resurrection of Brian, Fast 11 is shaping up to be an emotional farewell to the high-octane saga.
