During a recent appearance on the chat show Gup Shab, veteran actor Mehmood Aslam openly shared his thoughts on love and relationships. He stated that people can fall in love multiple times and admitted experiencing it himself. Reflecting on youthful emotions, he explained, “At fifteen or sixteen, you just have crushes. That’s not real love.”
Aslam expressed his belief that “ishq” is not an all-consuming force but rather a form of attachment. Explaining his perspective, he stated, “It’s not love, it’s just attachment. The proof is that if you stay away for six months, the bond weakens.” He elaborated further, saying, “The more time you spend with someone, the stronger your attachment becomes.”
The Bulbulay actor also made a surprising revelation about his personal life, disclosing that he married twice, both times for love. Unlike many in the industry who avoid discussing personal matters, he openly shared that both his marriages were love marriages. His second wife, actress Amber Nosheen, is a well-known industry figure, and together, they have two daughters.
Aslam has consistently spoken about the challenges faced by Pakistan’s entertainment industry, emphasizing how limited resources affect television production. In an interview last year, he highlighted that a small number of actors, writers, and directors handle excessive workloads. He explained, “Only ten to twelve TV stars carry the entire industry, moving between sets without enough time to fully dedicate to their roles.”
Reflecting on the past, he noted that writers previously had more time to craft scripts, unlike today’s fast-paced productions. Comparing different eras, he emphasized that “earlier, storytelling had depth, but now, deadlines compromise quality.” He stressed that these issues impact the overall standard of Pakistani dramas.
Beyond acting, Aslam has voiced his concerns about Pakistan’s future, expressing disappointment over the country’s current trajectory. In an emotional interview with Adnan Faisal, he criticized the nation’s declining global reputation. He lamented, “People boast about Pakistan’s greatness, but look at reality. Around the world, our passport holds little respect.”

Despite his concerns, Aslam has chosen to stay in Pakistan, even though he has the resources to relocate. Emphasizing his deep connection to the country, he stated, “This is my land, my roots are here, and no matter what, I won’t leave.” His words reflected his unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s future.
