Zara Noor Abbas asserts that Pakistan’s entertainment sector has yet to develop into a full-fledged industry. Instead, she describes it as a close-knit community where only a few individuals dominate the business.
During a Ramadan transmission on a private TV channel, she criticized the lack of recognition for supporting crew members. She emphasized that a true industry values every professional’s contribution, from graphic artists to cameramen.
“This feels more like a community where a few people collaborate to produce dramas,” she said. “A real industry respects and acknowledges all creative professionals, ensuring they receive proper recognition and award nominations. Unfortunately, that is still missing here.”
Her remarks sparked a debate with host and actor Danish Taimoor, who disagreed with her perspective. He argued that Pakistan’s drama sector has expanded significantly over the last decade and now stands in a much stronger position compared to 10 to 12 years ago.
Zara, however, stood by her stance. While she acknowledged progress, she pointed out that structural flaws still prevent the entertainment sector from functioning as a full-fledged industry. She highlighted that despite an abundance of creative talent, opportunities remain concentrated among a select few.
“In today’s entertainment scene, talented actors and digital influencers continue to emerge from cities like Lahore and Faisalabad,” she explained. “However, the industry keeps prioritizing the same small circle, restricting opportunities for many deserving individuals.”
Zara Noor Abbas has built a strong reputation as a versatile Pakistani actress, known for her compelling performances in television and film. She gained widespread acclaim for her roles in Khamoshi and Ehd-e-Wafa. Her film career took off in 2019 with Chhalawa and Parey Hut Love, both of which performed well at the box office.

Her latest project, Standup Girl, aired on Green Entertainment from December 2023 to 2024. In this comedy-drama series, she played Zara, a young woman from Islamabad who dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian and embarks on a journey to Lahore to chase her aspirations.
